Info
EIN Presswire and ACCESS Newswire are the only two services here publishing complete self-serve rate cards with real network reach behind them. PRWeb has the cheapest published entry at $120 a release, eReleases is the only reseller of PR Newswire's national wire, and Business Wire and GlobeNewswire are the picks when regulatory disclosure is the actual requirement. All seven were compared on published pricing, what a release includes, network claims taken from each vendor's own site, and disclosure support.
EIN Presswire is the best overall press release distribution pick for most companies. Business Wire is the better choice if you are a public company with a Reg FD obligation rather than a marketing goal.
Last updated: August 30, 2026. PickMySoft is reader-supported and independently researched. Every price and network figure below came from the vendor's own site on that date.
Why You Need Press Release Distribution
- Syndication buys indexed placement, not coverage. A wire puts your announcement on hundreds of domains. It does not make a journalist write about you, and vendors who blur that line are selling the wrong thing.
- Regulatory disclosure has a legal clock. Reg FD requires simultaneous material disclosure, which a blog post does not satisfy and a wire does.
- AI answers now cite press releases. Two vendors here have built explicit distribution into LLM indexing, which is a genuinely new reason to use a wire.
- Journalist databases are the expensive part. Wire syndication is commoditized. Hand-built, verified reporter lists are what actually differ between services.
- Permanent hosting on an authoritative domain has SEO value. A release living forever on a heavily-indexed newsroom domain outlives the news cycle.
- Free press release distribution is not really on offer here. Every service in this comparison charges per release or by subscription, so the honest question is what the cheapest legitimate placement costs.
How We Evaluated
Each of these press release distribution services was scored on pricing transparency, what a single release actually includes, network claims taken only from the vendor's own site, and regulatory or AI-search capability. We also kept enterprise wires and self-serve press release distribution platforms in one comparison, since most buyers weigh them against each other even though they sell very differently. One methodological note matters more here than in any other category we cover: search results for press release distribution are saturated with paid-placement listicles, several published on partner-content subdomains of otherwise reputable outlets. Every figure below came from the vendor's own pages, and competitor comparison blogs were excluded entirely. Full criteria live in our methodology.
1. EIN Presswire
EIN Presswire does the thing this category mostly refuses to do: it publishes flat prices with the per-tier limits spelled out, no quote gate and no annual contract. Credits stay valid a full year. It also has the most explicit AI-search positioning of any vendor here, with a dedicated page naming ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Perplexity, and Grok.
Pricing: Basic $149 for one release with a 700-word limit, one image, one video, one country and one industry target. Pro+ $499 for five releases plus one free under a limited-time offer, working out near $83.17 each with a 1,000-word limit. Corporate $999 for 15 releases at $66.60 each with a 2,500-word limit. Credits valid 365 days. USD.
Top Features
- Self-serve pay-as-you-go press release distribution
- AP News and USA TODAY Network syndication included
- Country and industry vertical targeting across 25+ verticals
- World Media Directory access for media research
- Built-in AI press release generator
- Distribution reporting included on every plan
Pros
- Fully published rate card with per-tier limits stated
- Explicit LLM and AI-search distribution positioning
- Volume packs drop the per-release cost to $66.60
Cons
- Web-form submission only, with no API of any kind
- Every release passes manual moderation before going out
AI/MCP Integration: None. No official or community MCP server exists. Searches surface only releases EIN Presswire distributed about other companies' MCP servers, which is the wire doing its job rather than shipping a server.
API Integration: No. The official FAQ states plainly that submissions are accepted only through the website. RSS feeds exist for reading content, not for submitting.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based with no install.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: AP News, Nexstar Media Group, and the USA TODAY Network with a combined 350 million monthly active users. 3,900-plus affinity group publications, 115-plus US TV and radio stations, plus Google News, Bloomberg Terminals, MuckRack, and Yahoo. Distribution to every country in any language.
Best For: Companies issuing releases regularly that want predictable per-release costs and modern AI-search indexing.
Editor score: 4.4/5. The most honest pricing in the category, and the AI-indexing page is a real product decision rather than marketing. Manual moderation adding roughly two hours per release, plus up to two business days for first-time verification and no API, means it cannot live inside an automated publishing pipeline.

2. ACCESS Newswire
ACCESS Newswire is one of very few services publishing prices for both per-release and subscription buying, and it operates its own wire rather than reselling someone else's. It also puts PR and investor relations disclosure behind one login, which is rare below enterprise pricing.
Brand history worth knowing: this product has been through three names. ACCESSWIRE became an Issuer Direct product, and Issuer Direct itself renamed to ACCESS Newswire Inc., effective January 2025. It is now a standalone public company on NYSE American under ACCS, not a subsidiary. Newswire.com and Pressrelease.com are sibling brands under the same company.
Pricing: Per-release Budget $475, National $865, US Premium $1,205, State $599. International and Global are quote-only. Subscriptions run $920, $1,150, and $1,525 a month for Budget, National, and Premium, each including one release a month, with a Plus upgrade to three releases costing $380 to $600 extra. Quarterly billing saves 10%, annual 20%. The ACCESS IR platform is quote-only. USD.
Top Features
- Per-release and subscription press release distribution
- Media database with verified journalist contacts and pitching
- Media and social monitoring with real-time alerts
- Analytics with AI citation tracking
- Investor relations websites, earnings calls, and webcasting
- Pre-submission AI content verification
Pros
- Publishes both per-release and subscription rate cards
- Operates its own wire rather than reselling
- PR and IR disclosure under a single login
Cons
- Base subscriptions include only one release per month
- IR platform, international, and global are all quote-only
AI/MCP Integration: None. Nothing on accessnewswire.com references MCP, and no server exists in the Model Context Protocol registry.
API Integration: No. No developer portal or API documentation exists across the homepage, product pages, or reseller paths as of August 30, 2026.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based with single sign-on across PR and IR modules.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: 500-plus news outlets, naming AP News, Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, Bloomberg Terminal, Nexstar Media, and Digital Journal, plus broker terminals and trading platforms. Releases go live in two to four hours during business hours. This is a vendor claim, presented as such.
Best For: Small-cap public companies that need marketing distribution and IR disclosure from one vendor with visible pricing.
Editor score: 4.3/5. The dual rate card and the owned wire both count for a lot in a category this opaque. The subscriptions are thin on actual volume, since $920 a month buys one release without the Plus upgrade, and everything international or IR-related reverts to a quote.
3. PRWeb
PRWeb is the cheapest published entry point in this comparison and the fastest to actually buy. Fixed per-release prices, no quote, no subscription, no sales call. It is Cision's self-serve SMB product and rides PR Newswire's syndication network rather than being the wire itself, which is the honest way to describe it.
Pricing: Basic $120 with unlimited media assets, editorial keyword tagging, and 48-hour turnaround. Standard $245 adding syndication to 1,200-plus PR Newswire-powered websites. Advanced $360 adding one industry journalist email list, proofreading, and 24-hour turnaround. Premium $480 adding a curated journalist list, professional editing, and Sovrn's content-recommendation network. Web Influence and Web Power have no published price. USD, per release.
Top Features
- Self-serve online submission and distribution
- Syndication to 1,200+ PR Newswire-powered websites
- Editorial keyword tagging for search visibility
- Email distribution to industry-specific journalist lists
- Unlimited multimedia assets per release
- Permanent hosting on PRWeb.com with analytics
Pros
- Lowest published entry price at $120 per release
- Fixed pricing with no sales contact required
- Unlimited media assets even on the cheapest tier
Cons
- Journalist outreach capped at one list even at $480
- No AI-search or GEO distribution advertised at all
AI/MCP Integration: None. No MCP server, official or community. The only MCP mentions on prweb.com are customer releases announcing other companies' servers.
API Integration: No submission API is documented anywhere on prweb.com as of August 30, 2026. Cision separately offers a Content API for reading PR Newswire data, which is a different product.
Cloud Based: Yes, fully browser-based self-serve.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: 1,200-plus partner websites powered by PR Newswire, indexing across Google, Yahoo, and Bing, targeted industry journalist lists, and the Sovrn network on Premium. PRWeb publishes no journalist-count or monthly-visitor figures.
Best For: Small businesses issuing occasional releases who want search-indexed placement without a procurement process. Related tooling sits in our content management category.
Editor score: 4.1/5. Genuinely transparent and genuinely cheap, which in this category is worth more than it sounds. Two gaps hold it back: journalist outreach never exceeds a single list at any published tier, and it advertises no AI-search distribution despite search visibility being the whole pitch.
4. eReleases
eReleases occupies a specific position it states plainly: it is the only reseller of Cision PR Newswire's national distribution. That means a $399 buyer gets genuine national wire placement normally sold at enterprise rates, paired with hand-built journalist email lists rather than syndication alone.
Pricing: Buzz Builder $399 for 400 words, one industry target list, and two images. Newsmaker $499 for 500 words and two target lists. PR Pro $699 for 600 words, three target lists, a Cision Influencer List, and a direct-to-journalists email send. Add-ons are where the cost moves: release writing $300, extra words $150 per 100, extra industry target $150, image embed $150, YouTube embed $200, international $150 per country or $1,000 global. First-time customers save 30%. USD.
Top Features
- Cision PR Newswire national wire distribution
- Hand-targeted journalist email lists by industry
- WireWatch placement and engagement reporting
- Professional press release writing service
- Editorial review before every distribution
- Multimedia embedding for images and video
Pros
- Only reseller of PR Newswire's US national wire
- Journalist lists built by hand, not auto-generated
- Editorial review included on every release
Cons
- Hard word caps with $150 per 100-word overage
- No API, no integrations, no subscription option
AI/MCP Integration: None. No official or community server, and the FAQ documents no API, developer tooling, or integrations.
API Integration: No. Not documented on any official page.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based ordering with online WireWatch reporting.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: figures vary by page, so both are worth quoting. The pricing page says 1.7 million journalists and social media influencers. The FAQ says 85,000 registered journalists and more than 30,000 top media outlets across the US, and describes PR Newswire access as reaching more than 22,000 newsrooms and 1.4 million equities terminals.
Best For: SMBs that want real national wire placement plus journalist outreach and can accept per-release pricing. See also our market research software category.
Editor score: 4.0/5. The PR Newswire reseller position is genuinely unique and the journalist lists are a real product, not a database dump. The add-on structure is the catch: at $150 for nearly every meaningful extra, a realistic release lands well above list price.
5. Business Wire
Business Wire's argument is disclosure, not marketing. Reg FD-compliant simultaneous release, EDGAR filing, and XBRL financial-statement tagging from one vendor means a public company can satisfy a material-disclosure obligation and its structured-data filing in one place. It has been a wholly owned Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary since 2006.
Pricing: Partially published, and harder to verify than it should be: businesswire.com refuses automated requests entirely, including from a real headless browser, so these figures come from its own pages via search index rather than a direct fetch. The entry price is $475 for a 400-word release on the US domestic local circuit. Everything above that is quote-only, varying by word count, circuit, and add-ons such as multimedia and translation. No published rate card exists for national, global, or IR circuits. USD.
Top Features
- Global newswire distribution across geographic circuits
- SEC Regulation FD-compliant simultaneous disclosure
- EDGAR filing and XBRL financial-statement tagging
- NewsTrak reporting for views, clicks, and pickups
- Multimedia and multi-language release distribution
- Direct feeds into financial terminals and news agencies
Pros
- Publishes a real entry price, unlike PR Newswire
- Disclosure and XBRL tagging in the same vendor
- Berkshire Hathaway ownership since 2006
Cons
- Only the $475 floor is published, everything else quoted
- No documented API for submitting releases
AI/MCP Integration: None. No official server and no community server found, across both its own domain and MCP registries.
API Integration: Consumption only. Business Wire publishes RESTful newsfeed, RSS, Atom, NewsML, and FTP feed options for receiving content. There is no public developer portal for programmatic submission, which runs through partner platforms instead.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based member portal.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: more than 89,000 media outlets in 162 countries on one page and 92,000-plus in 160-plus countries on another, across 193 industry categories, 20-plus languages, and 18 newsrooms worldwide, with agency partnerships including AP and AFP. The two outlet counts appear on different pages of its own site.
Best For: Public companies with regulatory disclosure obligations rather than purely marketing goals.
Editor score: 3.9/5. The disclosure stack is the strongest here and publishing any floor price puts it ahead of PR Newswire on transparency. Only that floor is public, though, and the lack of a submission API means automation depends entirely on partner integrations.
6. GlobeNewswire
GlobeNewswire, branded GlobeNewswire by Notified, has the deepest multi-jurisdiction regulatory filing operation of any service here. Its in-house team covers EDGAR in the US, SEDAR in Canada, Germany's Unternehmensregister, and an authorized European Regulatory News service across 17 European countries.
Ownership worth tracking: Intrado is no longer the parent. Intrado renamed to West Technology Group, which sold Notified and GlobeNewswire to Equiniti, completing May 1, 2025. Bullish agreed in May 2026 to acquire Equiniti, with an expected close in Q1 2027 that has not yet completed.
Pricing: Custom-quoted with no public rate card. The pricing URL itself redirects to a demo-gated product page, and every call to action is a demo request. No currency is published because no figure is.
Top Features
- Global distribution across 1,000+ targeted newslines
- AI press release optimizer built on a content framework
- Regulatory filing with EDGAR, SEDAR, and XBRL support
- AI-citation analytics through a Profound data integration
- Identity verification badge for sender trust
- 24/7 editorial support plus translation services
Pros
- Regulatory filing across 17 European countries plus US and Canada
- AI-citation analytics via an exclusive data integration
- Disclosure and distribution handled by one vendor
Cons
- No published pricing, and the pricing URL redirects to a demo form
- API access is Enterprise-only with extra fees below that
AI/MCP Integration: None. Notified's own API documentation lists exactly two APIs, Newsroom and Listen, with no MCP server.
API Integration: Partial. The Newsroom API is publicly documented, but access is included only on Enterprise plans, with additional charges otherwise, and its scope is retrieving account data. A submission API is not publicly documented.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based with a single portal login.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: 1,000,000 financial desktops, 10,000-plus news publications, 50,000-plus trade journals, 6,000 websites, 50 wire services, 1,500-plus multimedia outlets, 1,000-plus newslines, across 150-plus countries and 35-plus languages, with US disclosure media including Dow Jones, Reuters, AP, and Bloomberg.
Best For: Companies with disclosure obligations across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in Europe.
Editor score: 3.7/5. The multi-jurisdiction filing operation is genuinely differentiated and hard to replicate. The pricing page redirecting to a demo form is the clearest possible statement that self-serve evaluation is not on offer, and ongoing ownership churn is worth factoring into a multi-year commitment.
7. PR Newswire
PR Newswire is the biggest brand in this category and, on transparency, the most frustrating to evaluate. It has genuine strengths: a heavily-indexed domain, 24/7 human editorial review, and the most developed AI-visibility product here in its AEO and GEO Brand Report. It publishes no price for any of it.
Pricing: Custom-quoted with nothing published on prnewswire.com. Costs are stated only as varying by distribution scope, geographic reach, and additional services. A search-index snippet of its own membership page showed a $195 annual credit-card or $249 invoiced membership, but that page now returns a system error and the figure could not be confirmed on the live site as of August 30, 2026. Every per-release figure in circulation traces to competing vendors' blogs and is not used here.
Top Features
- Global multichannel distribution across 170+ countries
- 24/7 human editorial review before release goes live
- Geographic, industry, and demographic audience targeting
- Multimedia embedding for photo, video, and infographics
- AEO and GEO Brand Report for AI visibility tracking
- Amplify platform unifying planning, distribution, reporting
Pros
- Most developed AI-visibility measurement product here
- Genuine 24/7 human editorial review, not automated publishing
- Releases hosted on a heavily-indexed, journalist-trusted domain
Cons
- No published price of any kind, at any tier
- Its own reach figures conflict across three of its own pages
AI/MCP Integration: None for MCP. On AI search it is the most developed here, with a dedicated page on injecting JSON-LD structured data so ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity can cite releases, plus an AEO and GEO Brand Report tracking mentions, sources, and actual LLM answers about a brand. The AI-citation counters on that page render as placeholders, so no figure is actually published.
API Integration: Effectively none. Parent company Cision operates a CisionOne REST API for media-monitoring mention streams, gated behind customer login. No public self-serve distribution API exists.
Cloud Based: Yes, browser-based across the Amplify platform.
Network claims, as stated on its own site: the numbers conflict. Its product page says 440,000-plus newsrooms and direct feeds, 270,000-plus journalists, and 9,000-plus websites. Its homepage says 500K-plus media outlets. Its signup page says 82k-plus outlets. Worth noting given how often it is repeated elsewhere: no AP or Reuters access is claimed anywhere on its own site. That claim appears only in third-party listicles.
Best For: Enterprises with a procurement process, where brand recognition and editorial rigor justify a sales cycle.
Editor score: 3.6/5. The AEO product is ahead of everyone else here and the editorial operation is real. It ranks last on our criteria for consistent reasons: complete pricing opacity, an à-la-carte overage model that inflates any quoted base, and headline reach figures that contradict each other across three of its own pages.

How to Choose Press Release Distribution
- Separate disclosure from marketing before shortlisting. If you have a Reg FD obligation, the list is Business Wire and GlobeNewswire and price is secondary.
- Read the word cap, not just the price. eReleases charges $150 per extra 100 words, so a 900-word release costs far more than its $399 headline.
- Treat every network number as a vendor claim. Business Wire and PR Newswire both publish conflicting figures on their own sites, which tells you how soft these counts are.
- Check what a subscription actually includes. ACCESS Newswire's $920 monthly plan covers one release without a paid upgrade.
- Ask whether journalist outreach is included or an add-on. PRWeb caps it at one list even at $480, and eReleases bundles it only at $699.
- Do not expect automation. No service here has an MCP server, and almost none have a submission API, so budget for manual work on every release.
- Weigh AI-search distribution if discovery matters. EIN Presswire and PR Newswire are the only two doing anything explicit about it.
- For press release distribution for small business, ignore the prestige brands. PRWeb and EIN Presswire will ship a release today for under $250; the enterprise wires will book you a call.
What This Actually Costs
Take a company issuing one release a month, twelve a year, at moderate length with no international targeting.
EIN Presswire Corporate covers fifteen releases for $999, so twelve costs under a thousand dollars with three spare. PRWeb Standard at $245 comes to $2,940. eReleases Newsmaker at $499 reaches $5,988 before any add-on, and word overages will push that higher. Business Wire at its published $475 floor is $5,700, but that floor covers 400 words on a local circuit, so a national release costs meaningfully more.
ACCESS Newswire is the widest spread: twelve National releases bought individually at $865 is $10,380, while its National subscription at $1,150 a month runs $13,800 a year and includes only one release a month, making the per-release path cheaper unless you use the surrounding platform.
PR Newswire and GlobeNewswire cannot be modeled at any volume, which is the finding rather than an omission.
Final Thoughts
This is the only category we have compared this year where not one vendor ships an MCP server, and almost none offer a submission API. Press release distribution remains a web form and a human editor, whatever the AI-visibility marketing suggests. If automating your announcement pipeline matters, no service here supports it.
The other pattern is that transparency and quality do not correlate the way you would expect. The two cheapest services publish complete rate cards, and the two most prestigious publish nothing. That is a real cost, not a stylistic difference, because it makes comparison impossible without a sales cycle.
Choose EIN Presswire if you issue releases regularly and want predictable costs plus AI indexing. Choose PRWeb if you issue them rarely and want the cheapest legitimate option. Choose eReleases if genuine national wire placement matters more than the add-on bill. Choose ACCESS Newswire if you need PR and IR in one place with visible pricing.
Business Wire and GlobeNewswire are not really competing with those four. They are what you buy when a regulator, not a marketing plan, sets your requirements. More options sit in our marketing archive and the brand management software category.
