How We Work

Editorial Policy

The standards behind every guide, comparison and review on PickMySoft — and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

1. Editorial independence

Our editorial team decides what we cover and what we conclude. Vendors cannot pay for a ranking, a score, a favourable verdict, or the removal of a criticism. Sponsored placements exist on the site, and every one of them is labelled as such (see Disclosures). The scoring rules behind product ratings are published in our review methodology.

2. How we research

Every factual claim in a guide is traced to a source we can name. In practice that means:

  • Pricing, plans, feature lists, platform support and API or integration claims come from the vendor’s own website, documentation, changelog or pricing page, checked on the date the article was written or last updated.
  • We do not copy ratings, review counts or claims from other review aggregators, and we do not cite them as sources.
  • All prices are quoted in US dollars as published by the vendor. Where a vendor does not publish a price we say so (“custom-quoted”) rather than estimate one.
  • Where a fact could not be confirmed, the article says “not documented as of [date]” instead of guessing.
  • Our guides are research-based evaluations. We do not describe hands-on testing unless an article explicitly says it was performed.

3. Review before publication

Articles pass an editorial review before they go live, and posts that carry an “Editorially reviewed” date have been checked again on that date. Bylines identify the editorial desk responsible for a piece; editorial responsibility for every article rests with PickMySoft as the publisher.

4. Keeping content current

Software pricing and features change constantly, so each article shows the date it was last updated, and substantive changes are listed in a “What changed” note at the end of the post. We re-verify pricing and feature claims on a rolling schedule and prioritise the guides readers use most. An article’s URL never changes once it is published.

5. Disclosures

  • Sponsored content is labelled “Sponsored” at the top of the article with a plain-language disclosure of the arrangement, and its outbound links are marked as sponsored.
  • Featured listings in the software directory are labelled “Featured” and affect display position only, never ratings or scores.
  • Outbound links to vendors carry tracking parameters so we can measure referrals. They do not change the price you pay.
  • Lead forms on product pages send your request to the vendor named on that page; our privacy policy explains what we store.

6. How we use AI

We use AI tools to help draft, structure and proofread articles. Every price, plan, feature claim, platform-support statement and API or integration claim in a published guide is checked by a person against the vendor’s own pages on the date shown as “Updated”; product rankings, editor scores and verdicts are editorial decisions, not model output. No article is published without that human verification, and no article describes hands-on testing unless a person performed it. Featured images are typographic cards we generate ourselves, not photographs presented as real.

Where a claim could not be verified we say “not documented as of [date]” rather than let a tool fill the gap. If you believe an AI-assisted passage is wrong, the corrections process applies.

7. How PickMySoft makes money

PickMySoft is free for readers. We earn from three sources: sponsored placements and featured listings, which are always labelled; lead and demo requests that a reader chooses to send to a vendor through a form on our site; and, in some guides, affiliate links where a vendor pays a referral fee, marked as sponsored links. None of these change a product’s score, ranking or verdict, and a vendor cannot buy its way into a “best of” list. Scores are ring-fenced from every paid placement, as our methodology sets out.

8. Corrections

If you find an error — a wrong price, an outdated feature claim, a broken link, a product that no longer exists — email editorial@pickmysoft.comwith the article URL and the correction. We aim to verify and fix confirmed errors within five working days. Material corrections are recorded in the article’s “What changed” note; minor fixes (typos, formatting) are made silently.

Vendors who believe a claim about their product is inaccurate can use the same address. We will check the claim against your official documentation and correct it if it is wrong. We do not remove accurate criticism on request.
