How PickMySoft collects, verifies, and scores software reviews — so you can make confident buying decisions.

1. How We Collect Reviews

Reviews on PickMySoft are submitted directly by verified business users — not collected from third-party scrapes, aggregators, or synthetic sources. Every reviewer completes a structured form covering:

  • Overall rating (1–5 stars)
  • A 1–5 star rating for each scoring parameter: Ease of Use, Value for Money, Regular Updates, Customer Support, Functionality and Features
  • Open-ended Pros and Cons (minimum 30 characters each)
  • Company size and use-case context
  • Disclosure of any vendor relationship

Reviews submitted by vendors, company employees, or competitors about each other are automatically excluded using business domain matching and conflict-of-interest screening.

2. Review Verification Process

Every submitted review passes through a three-stage verification pipeline before appearing on any product page:

Identity Verification

Reviewer email is confirmed via a one-time link. Business domain is cross-checked against the company they claim to represent.

Fraud Detection

Automated checks screen for duplicate submissions, bot activity, IP clustering, and known review-farm patterns.

Content Quality

Reviews are checked for minimum content length, language quality, and relevance to the product being reviewed.

Reviews that fail any stage are rejected and never published. Verified reviews display a ✓ Verified Review badge.

3. The PickMySoft Score and the User Score

Every product is scored out of 5 on the same six parameters. Our editorial team scores them for the PickMySoft Score (PMS Score). Verified reviewers rate the same six when they write a review, and the User Score is the average of their ratings. Until a product receives its first review, its User Score shows the PickMySoft Score and says so. Because both use the same parameters and the same scale, you can read them side by side on every product page and comparison.

Ease of UseHow quickly a team gets set up and how intuitive the product is day to day.
Value for MoneyWhat you get for the price across the available plans, including any free tier.
Regular UpdatesHow often the product ships improvements, fixes and new releases.
Customer SupportHow responsive and helpful support is across the channels offered.
FunctionalityHow well the core features work in practice: reliable, accurate and fast.
FeaturesBreadth and depth of the feature set compared with what the category offers.

Both scores also carry an overall rating out of 5. Vendor-submitted claims, marketing materials and sponsored placements have zero influence on either score.

4. Award Badges

Award badges are assigned annually based on objective, data-driven criteria:

Category Champion

Highest combined PMS Score, verified review volume, and user recommendation rate in its category. Requires a minimum of 50 verified reviews.

Category Contender

Strong performance with a PMS Score of 3.75 out of 5 or higher and a meaningful review base. Recognised as a leading alternative to the Champion.

Emerging Favourite

High growth trajectory, recent positive review momentum, or strong performance in a specific use-case segment.

Badge year is always the current calendar year. No vendor payment, sponsorship, or partnership can influence badge assignment.

5. Sponsored & Featured Listings

PickMySoft offers paid featured placements for vendors who want additional visibility. These placements are always clearly labelled with a Featured tag.

Featured and sponsored status affects only:

  • Placement in the “Most Popular” carousel at the top of category pages
  • Inclusion in curated “Featured Software” sections on the homepage

Featured status has zero effect on star ratings, PMS Scores, ranking in organic product lists, or award badge eligibility.

6. Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from our commercial team. Product reviews, category rankings, and buying guides are written and published without vendor approval, and vendors cannot pay to modify or remove reviews.

If you believe a review violates our policies, you can flag it using the report function on the review card. Our moderation team reviews all flags within 48 hours.

How does PickMySoft verify reviews?▾
Every review submitted on PickMySoft goes through a three-step verification process: email confirmation, business domain validation, and an automated fraud-detection check that screens for duplicate submissions, bot activity, and incentivized reviews. What is the PickMySoft Score (PMS Score)?▾
The PMS Score is our editorial team's rating of a product, out of 5. It covers the same six parameters reviewers rate (Ease of Use, Value for Money, Regular Updates, Customer Support, Functionality and Features) plus an overall score. Product pages show it next to the User Score, which averages verified reviewers' ratings on those same parameters, so the two can be compared directly. Until a product receives its first review, its User Score shows the PMS Score. Vendor-submitted claims have no influence on either score.
How is Category Champion status awarded?▾
Category Champion is awarded annually to the top-ranked product in each software category based on PMS Score, total verified review count, and user recommendation rate. No paid placement or sponsorship can influence Champion status.
Do featured or sponsored listings affect rankings?▾
No. Featured and sponsored placements are clearly labelled and affect only the display position in the "Most Popular" carousel at the top of category pages. They have zero influence on star ratings, PMS Scores, or award badges.
