Info
Veriff and Sumsub are the only two vendors here publishing self-serve per-verification rates with genuinely global coverage behind them. Sumsub and Trulioo are the only two with official MCP servers. Socure is the strongest pick for US database-first checks, Stripe Identity the cheapest way to start, and Jumio the answer when independently lab-tested anti-spoofing is the requirement. All seven were compared on published pricing, document and country coverage, MCP status, and compliance certifications.
Veriff is the best overall identity verification software for most teams verifying customers globally, and at $0.80 a verification with a $49 monthly minimum, it's also the best identity verification software for small business apps running low volume. Socure is the better choice if your users are almost entirely US-based and you would rather skip the document step.
Last updated: August 29, 2026. PickMySoft is reader-supported and independently researched. Every price, coverage figure, and certification below came from vendor documentation on that date, never from a competitor's comparison page.
Why You Need Identity Verification Software
- Regulated onboarding has a legal floor. KYC, CIP, and AML obligations are not satisfied by a checkbox, and the audit trail matters as much as the check.
- Deepfakes changed the threat model. Injection attacks and synthetic identities now defeat naive liveness checks, which is why lab-tested presentation attack detection is worth paying for.
- Friction costs real conversion. Every extra step in onboarding loses applicants, so the difference between a database lookup and a full document scan is a revenue decision.
- Coverage decides which markets you can open. A vendor supporting 200 countries and one supporting 195 sound similar until the missing five are your expansion plan.
- Fraud does not stop at signup. Ongoing monitoring and sanctions rescreening catch what a one-time check at account creation never will.
How We Evaluated
Each platform was scored on pricing transparency, document and country coverage, AI and MCP maturity, and documented compliance certifications. We treated published rate cards as a positive signal, since opaque pricing in this category usually means opaque limits too. We also excluded competing vendors' comparison blogs as fact sources, which matters here because most of the top search results for this category are written by the vendors themselves. Full criteria live in our methodology.
1. Veriff
Veriff does something almost no enterprise identity verification vendor does: it publishes a real rate card and lets you start at $49 a month without a sales call. Behind that it documents 12,500-plus identity documents across 230-plus countries, which is the broadest coverage in this comparison. Passive liveness means users are not asked to perform unnatural head movements, which helps completion rates.
Pricing: Essential $0.80 per verification with a $49 monthly minimum. Plus $1.39 with a $99 minimum. Premium $1.89 with a $209 minimum. Enterprise custom-quoted above 5,000 verifications a month. Add-ons stack per verification: PEP and sanctions screening $0.64, extended two-year retention $0.30, additional data fields $0.30, ongoing monitoring $0.09. Displayed in USD despite Veriff being Estonian.
Top Features
- AI-automated document and selfie verification in seconds
- Passive liveness detection without unnatural user movements
- Assisted image capture with real-time user guidance
- PEP and sanctions screening across OFAC, UN, EU
- CrossLinks fraud detection and Risk Insights signals
- Network and device analytics across 1,000+ data points
Pros
- Publishes real per-verification rates with self-serve entry
- Broadest documented document and country coverage here
- ISO 30107-3 Levels 1 and 2 presentation attack detection
Cons
- No official MCP server, only a Zapier-mediated route
- Compliance add-ons stack on top of the headline rate
AI/MCP Integration: None official. Third-party access exists only through Zapier's hosted MCP endpoint, exposing two triggers and two actions.
API Integration: Yes. Veriff Public API v1 with API-key auth and webhooks, documented at devdocs.veriff.com. SDKs for iOS and Android with NFC support, React Native, Flutter, Cordova, JavaScript, and an InContext embedded SDK.
Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise or self-hosted option documented.
Platforms: iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, Cordova, JavaScript, WebView, plus a hosted redirect flow.
Compliance: SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 30107-3 Levels 1 and 2, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, UK Cyber Essentials, UKDIATF, FIDO certified.
Best For: Global consumer products that need real coverage without an enterprise sales cycle.
Editor score: 4.6/5. Pricing transparency plus the widest coverage in the group is a hard combination to beat. The missing MCP server is the gap, and buyers should model the add-ons rather than the $0.80 headline, because PEP screening alone pushes a regulated check to $1.44.

2. Sumsub
Sumsub's pitch is consolidation: KYC, KYB with UBO chains, AML screening, transaction monitoring, and Travel Rule in one console and one contract. It also became the first verification platform to ship a real MCP server, and the implementation is unusually thoughtful. Agent permissions inherit the operator's own Sumsub role, sensitive actions run in an isolated sandbox, and configuration changes require human approval.
Pricing: Basic $1.35 per verification with a $149 monthly minimum. Compliance $1.85 with a $299 minimum. Enterprise custom-quoted. USD. Worth reading carefully: unused included features do not reduce cost, and Sumsub states that verification is charged at full cost regardless.
Top Features
- ID verification with liveness and face match
- KYB business verification with UBO screening
- AML screening and ongoing sanctions monitoring
- AML transaction monitoring with configurable rules
- No-code workflow builder and case management
- Travel Rule and crypto wallet compliance
Pros
- Official MCP server with role-inherited agent permissions
- Widest single-vendor scope from KYC through Travel Rule
- 14,000+ document types across 220+ countries
Cons
- KYB and fraud prevention sit in the unpriced Enterprise tier
- $149 and $299 monthly minimums hurt at low volume
AI/MCP Integration: Official hosted server documented at docs.sumsub.com. Supports onboarding, compliance operations, transaction monitoring, and configuration-discovery agent workflows. Sensitive actions are sandboxed and config changes need human approval.
API Integration: Yes. REST and JSON on api.sumsub.com with X-App-Token header auth and applicant-reviewed webhooks.
Cloud Based: Yes. No self-hosted deployment path published.
Platforms: WebSDK plus mobile SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, Ionic, Cordova, .NET MAUI, and Kotlin Multiplatform.
Compliance: SOC 1 Type 1, SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018, ISO 22301, ISO 9001, PCI DSS, ETSI eIDAS conformity, iBeta Level 1 and Level 2 PAD.
Best For: Regulated fintech and crypto teams consolidating several point vendors into one workflow builder.
Editor score: 4.5/5. The MCP implementation is the most carefully permissioned of any vendor here, and the certification list is the longest. The published rates only describe the simplest consumer KYC case, which is the honest caveat: KYB, non-doc verification, database validation, and fraud prevention all sit behind an unpriced tier.
3. Persona
Persona sells identity infrastructure rather than a fixed product. Workflows composes government ID, selfie, database, KYB, and AML steps into custom branching logic, with Graph link-analysis and Cases for investigation on top. The certification list is the most impressive here for US public-sector work: FedRAMP Moderate authorized and Kantara-certified at NIST 800-63 IAL2.
Pricing: Essential $250 a month on an annual contract, including 500 services with $1.50 per service overage. Growth and Enterprise are both custom-quoted. A 60-day free trial covers up to 50 services, sandbox by default. USD.
Top Features
- Government ID verification across 200+ countries
- Selfie biometric matching with liveness detection
- Database and watchlist AML screening lookups
- Configurable no-code Workflows orchestration engine
- Cases and Graph link-analysis for fraud investigations
- Unified KYC, KYB, and age assurance flows
Pros
- FedRAMP Moderate and Kantara NIST 800-63 IAL2 certified
- Workflows genuinely composes custom verification logic
- US and EU data residency with field-level redaction
Cons
- No MCP server, official or community
- Only the entry tier has a published price
AI/MCP Integration: None. No official or community MCP server for Persona's verification API could be found as of August 29, 2026. GitHub results matching "persona-mcp" are unrelated AI-character management servers.
API Integration: Yes, documented at docs.withpersona.com covering Inquiries, Verifications, Reports, Workflows, Webhooks, and Transactions with API-key auth. The fully custom API-only integration requires contacting support engineering rather than self-serve setup.
Cloud Based: Yes, on Google Cloud with US and EU residency. No on-premise option documented.
Platforms: Hosted Flow, Embedded Flow JavaScript SDK, native iOS, Android, and React Native SDKs, plus the REST API. No official Flutter SDK.
Compliance: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, Kantara NIST SP 800-63 IAL2, FedRAMP Moderate, PCI DSS, HIPAA, FERPA, Age Check Certification Scheme, iBeta. Persona's marketing domain blocks automated requests, so this list comes from its help center and its own published announcements rather than a direct fetch of the security page.
Best For: Teams that need verification logic shaped to their own risk model, and US public-sector buyers needing FedRAMP.
Editor score: 4.3/5. The strongest compliance credentials in the group for US government work, and Workflows is a real orchestration engine rather than a settings page. It loses ground on transparency, since Growth and Enterprise are entirely quote-gated, and on the absent MCP server.
4. Stripe Identity
Stripe Identity is the cheapest way to start and the easiest to integrate if you already run on Stripe. Verification data stays on Stripe's side and never touches your systems, and it composes with Connect onboarding and Financial Connections under one contract. The reason it is not ranked higher has nothing to do with the technology.
Pricing: $1.50 per document verification and $0.50 per ID number lookup, with the first 50 verifications free. Both figures come from search sources citing Stripe's own pricing block; Stripe geo-gates that section, and our research could not retrieve it directly from this locale on August 29, 2026. Stripe's billing documentation confirms the model but not the rate. Verify from a US IP before budgeting.
Top Features
- Hosted verification flow localized in 53 languages
- Government ID authenticity checks across 120+ countries
- Biometric selfie matching against the document photo
- US SSN name and date-of-birth database lookups
- Machine learning fraud detection with manual review
- Stripe stores the PII so it never reaches your systems
Pros
- First 50 verifications free with pay-as-you-go after
- Usable standalone, without processing payments on Stripe
- PII custody sits with Stripe rather than your infrastructure
Cons
- Contractually barred from FCRA, HIPAA, and government use
- Database ID number check works only in the United States
AI/MCP Integration: Stripe operates an official MCP server at mcp.stripe.com, but its documented tool table and API allowlist cover payments, billing, subscriptions, disputes, tax, Issuing, Connect, and money movement, with no Identity endpoints listed. Identity coverage is undocumented rather than confirmed. Do not read "Stripe has an MCP server" as "Stripe Identity has MCP support."
API Integration: Yes. VerificationSession and VerificationReport objects with webhooks, documented at docs.stripe.com/api/identity.
Cloud Based: Yes. No self-hosted deployment.
Platforms: Stripe-hosted redirect page, embedded modal via Stripe.js, React and HTML patterns, plus server libraries for Node, Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, Go, and .NET.
Compliance: Identity-specific published controls cover AES-256 encryption at rest, explicit consent, programmatic delete and redact, and one-year biometric retention. PCI DSS Level 1, SOC 1 and 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 are documented platform-wide rather than Identity-scoped.
Best For: Product teams already on Stripe who need straightforward consumer verification without a procurement cycle.
Editor score: 4.2/5. The best on-ramp in this comparison by a distance. The score reflects a real constraint rather than a missing feature: Stripe's Services Terms bar Identity from FCRA-covered uses including credit, employment, and housing, from HIPAA-covered data, from government and law enforcement use, from subjects under 16, and from reselling verification as your own service.
5. Trulioo
Trulioo covers person and business verification under one API contract, which is genuinely rare. It publishes 195 countries, 450-plus data sources, 700 million verifiable business entities, 14,000-plus document types, and 500 business registration number formats. It also ships an official MCP server under its own GitHub organization, one of only two vendors here that do.
Pricing: Custom-quoted. Nothing is published on the current site, and every path routes to a demo request or sales email. The legacy self-serve GlobalGateway portal that once listed 100 free monthly requests and $500 a month for higher volume no longer resolves at all, so treat those figures as decommissioned rather than current.
Top Features
- Global KYC identity data verification across 195 countries
- Document verification with biometrics and liveness detection
- Business verification with UBO discovery
- Global bank account verification
- AML watchlist and sanctions screening
- Configurable no-code onboarding workflow builder
Pros
- Official MCP server under Apache 2.0 on Trulioo's GitHub
- Person and business verification in one API contract
- 195 countries and 450+ data sources documented
Cons
- Zero pricing transparency and no self-serve path
- Certification list is narrower than Sumsub's or Persona's
AI/MCP Integration: Official. The Trulioo/mcp-server repository sits under Trulioo's own GitHub organization, written in C# under Apache 2.0, described as an MCP server for building agentic integrations to Trulioo's products.
API Integration: Yes. REST API documented at developer.trulioo.com with server SDKs for C#, Java, PHP, Python, and Ruby, plus a Web SDK, iOS SDK, and Android SDK.
Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option documented.
Platforms: REST API, server SDKs across five languages, npm Web SDK, native iOS and Android, plus a WebView fallback.
Compliance: ISO 27001 certified since 2015, currently ISO 27001:2022. SOC 2 Type 2 obtained February 2024. GDPR-aligned data handling.
Best For: Companies that need consumer and business verification globally and would rather not stitch a separate KYB vendor onto their KYC stack.
Editor score: 4.0/5. Coverage breadth and the official MCP server both count for a lot. The complete absence of published pricing is what holds it back, since even low-volume buyers must go through enterprise sales to learn a per-check rate that varies by country and data source anyway.

6. Socure
Socure works differently from everything else here. It resolves an identity from name, date of birth, and SSN against 400-plus authoritative data sources plus Graph Intelligence in under a second, so most users never see a document step at all. Documents are a step-up, not the front door. That model is excellent in the United States and considerably weaker outside it.
Pricing: The self-serve Socure Launch tier publishes real rates: $1,000 a month in platform credits, then usage-based with no long-term contract. DocV is $0.80 per evaluation, DocV plus Watchlist $0.90, KYC with Fraud and Watchlist and DocV step-up $1.00, and Prefill with KYC, Fraud, Watchlist and DocV step-up $1.30. Enterprise and RiskOS pricing is custom-quoted with no published rate card. USD.
Top Features
- Sigma fraud suite scoring identity and synthetic fraud
- Socure Verify KYC matching against 400+ data sources
- Graph Intelligence linking identity elements across the network
- Predictive DocV document capture with biometric selfie
- Global Watchlist screening with ongoing monitoring
- RiskOS AI-native decisioning and workflow orchestration
Pros
- FedRAMP Moderate authorization for the SocureGov platform
- Database-first model removes the document step for most users
- Publishes real per-evaluation rates on the Launch tier
Cons
- Coverage and evidence are overwhelmingly US-anchored
- No MCP server, only an agent skill
AI/MCP Integration: None. No official or community MCP server exists. Socure does publish an official agent skill at socure-inc/riskos-integration-skill, installable for Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf, but a skill is not an MCP server and should not be described as one.
API Integration: Yes. REST API with public documentation at help.socure.com/riskos/docs. The older developer.socure.com portal now redirects to a login-gated dashboard.
Cloud Based: Yes, API and SaaS only. No on-premise deployment documented.
Platforms: REST API plus DocV SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native, and Web, and separate SigmaDevice SDKs for iOS and Android. No Flutter SDK.
Compliance: FedRAMP Moderate for SocureGov, GovRAMP authorized, Kantara IAL2 approved component service. SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS could not be confirmed from an official Socure source as of August 29, 2026.
Best For: US-focused fintech, banking, and government programs where conversion matters and most applicants should never see a document upload.
Editor score: 3.9/5. The database-first approach is genuinely differentiated and the FedRAMP authorization is real. Outside the United States the advantage largely disappears, since the evidence base is SSN-centric with USPS address normalization and eCBSV, and no global country count is published.
7. Jumio
Jumio's case rests on two things: 5,000-plus ID types across 200 countries, and anti-spoofing that a third-party lab has actually tested. Jumio Liveness holds ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 2 presentation attack detection conformance, verified by NIST/NVLAP-accredited iBeta. In a category where every vendor claims deepfake resistance, an independent lab result is worth more than a marketing page.
Pricing: Custom-quoted with no public numbers. Jumio publishes no rate card, no tier names, and no per-verification price. Every product page routes to a demo request. There is no self-serve signup and no free trial on the official site. It is also listed on AWS Marketplace, but through private offer rather than a published rate.
Top Features
- ID document verification across 5,000+ ID types
- Biometric selfie-to-ID face matching
- Liveness detection blocking deepfakes and injection attacks
- AML watchlist screening with ongoing monitoring
- Risk signals and cross-transaction risk analysis
- Reusable identity for returning users
Pros
- iBeta-tested ISO 30107-3 Level 2 anti-spoofing conformance
- 5,000+ ID types across 200 countries and territories
- Broadest mobile framework coverage including Xamarin
Cons
- No published pricing, no self-serve signup, no free trial
- No MCP server in its GitHub organization or the MCP registry
AI/MCP Integration: None. Jumio's GitHub organization lists 13 public repositories covering web and mobile SDKs, with no MCP server. No Jumio entry appears in the official MCP Registry or on npm as of August 29, 2026.
API Integration: Yes, documented at documentation.jumio.ai covering developer resources and API references.
Cloud Based: Yes, running on AWS. No on-premise offering is documented on Jumio's official site; on-premise claims appear only in third-party comparison content.
Platforms: Web SDK, hosted Web Client, native iOS and Android SDKs, plus Flutter, React Native, Cordova, and Xamarin plugins.
Compliance: SOC 2 Type 2 for the platform and for Transaction Monitoring, ISO/IEC 27001:2013, PCI DSS, and ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 2 PAD verified by iBeta.
Best For: Enterprises where independently verified anti-spoofing evidence is a procurement requirement.
Editor score: 3.7/5. The lab-tested PAD conformance is a genuine differentiator that most competitors cannot evidence. Everything commercial about it works against smaller buyers: no price, no signup, no trial, no sandbox tier, and the strongest anti-fraud capability sold as an add-on above base Liveness.
Comparison Table
| Tool | Best For | Starting Price | Standout Feature | AI-MCP Support | API Integration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Veriff | Global self-serve coverage | $0.80/verification | 12,500+ docs, 230+ countries | None official | REST + 6 SDKs |

| Socure | US database-first checks | $1,000/mo Launch credits | Verification without a document | None, agent skill only | REST, 4 client SDKs |
| Jumio | Lab-tested anti-spoofing | Custom-quoted | iBeta ISO 30107-3 Level 2 | None | REST + 7 SDK targets |
How to Choose Identity Verification Software
- Decide document-first or database-first before shortlisting. If your users are US-based, Socure's model removes a step that every other vendor here requires.
- Model the add-ons, not the headline rate. Veriff's $0.80 becomes $1.44 once PEP and sanctions screening is added, which is the realistic figure for regulated onboarding.
- Check whether KYB is priced or gated. Sumsub covers it, but in the unpriced Enterprise tier. Trulioo covers it, but publishes no price at all.
- Read the acceptable-use terms, not just the docs. Stripe Identity is contractually barred from FCRA, HIPAA, government, and under-16 use, which no feature comparison will surface.
- Match certifications to your actual buyer. FedRAMP matters for US public sector and nothing else. iBeta PAD conformance matters when procurement asks for lab evidence.
- Verify the monthly minimum, not just the unit price. Veriff at $49 and Sumsub at $149 and $299 behave very differently at 200 verifications a month.
- Confirm the SDK for your stack exists. Persona and Socure both lack a Flutter SDK, which is easy to miss until integration week.
- Compare the identity verification API surface, not just the endpoint count. Every vendor here ships REST, so the real differences sit in webhook coverage, sandbox quality, and which client SDKs exist.
What This Actually Costs
Identity verification pricing only becomes comparable once you fix a volume and a scope. Take 10,000 verifications a month, consumer KYC only, no KYB. Veriff Essential lands at $8,000 and Socure Launch DocV at the same $8,000. Sumsub Basic reaches $13,500. Persona Essential works out near $14,500, since the $250 covers only the first 500 services and the remaining 9,500 bill at $1.50 each. Stripe Identity would be $15,000 at the widely-cited $1.50 rate, which we could not confirm directly.
Add regulated screening and the ordering shifts. Veriff with PEP and sanctions at $1.44 becomes $14,400, and Sumsub Compliance at $1.85 reaches $18,500 while including AML monitoring and proof of address that Veriff bills separately. Jumio and Trulioo cannot be modeled at all, which is itself the finding.
Final Thoughts
Two things separate this category from most software comparisons. The first is that most lists of the top identity verification companies are written by identity verification companies, which is why every fact above came from primary documentation rather than a competitor's ranking. The second is that MCP adoption here is unusually low: only Sumsub and Trulioo ship official servers, and Stripe's server pointedly does not document Identity coverage.
Among the best identity verification providers here, choose Veriff if you want global coverage and a price you can see. Choose Sumsub if compliance scope is the problem and you would rather retire three vendors. Choose Persona if your verification logic is genuinely bespoke or FedRAMP is on the requirements list. Choose Stripe Identity if you are already on Stripe and your use case clears its terms.
Socure and Jumio both make sense for narrower reasons. One because your users are American and you want to skip the document step. The other because someone in procurement wants a lab report rather than a claim. More options sit in our security and DevOps archive and the data security software category.
