Info
ProPet is the best pet care software for most independent facilities, RunLoyal the best for operators who want a branded app in every plan, and Gingr the best single system for boarding and daycare. Time To Pet leads for sitters and walkers. All seven were compared on pricing, payments, API access, fit by business type and deployment.
ProPet is the best pick in 2026 for most independent pet businesses. It prints a modular price list, charges nothing per user, and includes a free public API. Groomers running vans should look hardest at MoeGo, and in-home sitters at Time To Pet.
Pet care software is the booking, records and payments system behind a grooming salon, kennel, daycare or sitting service. Which one fits depends on the services you sell, so this guide notes where each platform is strong and where it is thin. Salon owners with human clients should read our salon and spa management software guide, and clinics should read veterinary practice management software, because both categories sit next door to this one.
Last updated: October 27, 2026. Pricing and feature claims were verified against vendor pages on that date.
Dog grooming software, dog boarding software and pet sitting software for small business support different booking patterns. Compare salon appointment capacity, overnight stays and staff visits separately instead of assuming one calendar covers every service. Choose the workflow first, then compare payments, customer records and the fees that apply to that workflow.
Why You Need Pet Care Software
- Bookings that run themselves. Online booking pages take reservations and deposits at night, so the front desk stops being the bottleneck.
- Vaccine and waiver control. Records and uploads live on the pet profile, which cuts the arguments at drop-off.
- Fewer no-shows. Automated reminders and card-on-file or deposit rules protect appointment revenue.
- Staff time that adds up. Schedules, tasks, commissions and clock-in sit in one system, so payroll stops being a spreadsheet exercise.
- Pet parents who come back. Report cards, photos and branded apps keep clients attached to your business, not a marketplace. See our online appointment scheduling software guide for the wider booking category.
How We Evaluated Pet Care Software
Each platform was scored on pricing transparency, fit across grooming, boarding, daycare and sitting, payments and add-on costs, API and integration openness, and deployment. Facts come from each vendor's own pages; where a page would not load or a vendor publishes no figure, we say so. We dropped one candidate, Pawfinity, because its pricing page blocked every attempt to read it. Full criteria live in our methodology.
1. ProPet
ProPet is an Ottawa company, owned outright by its founder since 2014, and it prices like a software company that wants you to do the math yourself: a base module and add-on modules, each with a number next to it.
Pricing: USD pricing starts at $49.99 a month for the base Pet & Client Manager module, with unlimited client records and transactions. Boarding adds $20 a month, Daycare $15, Grooming $15 and Training $20. There is a one-time setup fee per module: $75 on monthly plans, $50 on annual plans and free on two-year plans. Migration is free with ProPet's template, $150 for a standard import and $300 for a complex one. The first month is free. SMS runs through Twilio pay-as-you-go, and card rates are not published. The page also lists Canadian-dollar prices, which we have left out.
Top Features
- Boarding, daycare, grooming and training modules
- Online booking and client portal
- Kennel View and Kennel Builder run management
- Vaccination manager with reminders
- Report cards, photos, SMS and email marketing
- Smart pricing engine and integrated payments
Pros
- Published modular pricing with no per-user fees
- Public REST API included at no extra cost
- Free data migration with ProPet's template
Cons
- Setup fee on every module on monthly plans
- Each location needs its own account
AI/MCP Integration: None found. We saw no official or community MCP server.
API Integration: Yes. A versioned REST API with a public Swagger UI at api.propetware.com/docs, 76 endpoints, 19 signed webhook events and up to five active keys. ProPet's API page calls it a beta, while other pages still say general release is coming soon. Reservations are read-only for now. Native integrations include QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Mailchimp, Zapier (one way), Twilio, Square and Chosen Payments.
Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option is documented as of October 2026.
Platforms: Web portal, plus the ProPet Companion iPhone and Android app for staff and owners. Pet parents use an online booking page and client portal.
Best For: Independent kennels, daycares and grooming shops that want transparent, modular pricing.
Our take: Choose ProPet when you want to read the full price before talking to sales and may build on the API later.
Editor score: 4.4/5. The clearest pricing and the only documented public API in the group; held back by a beta API and per-module setup fees.

2. RunLoyal
RunLoyal sells to boarding, daycare, grooming and training businesses, and its pitch is simple: every plan ships a white-label app with your name on it, published to the app stores for you.
Pricing: Plans are priced per location per month and tiered by monthly appointment volume, where one closed invoice counts as one appointment, so a ten-day boarding stay is one. Jog is $119 (up to 500 appointments, one Staff App user), Run $229 (1,000), Sprint $289 (2,000) and Enterprise $339 (5,000). Annual prepay saves 10%. Setup is a one-time $499, or $249.50 for people switching from Gingr. Add-ons include 2-Way Texting at $29, Group Based Services at $39, Membership Based Services at $49 and Occupancy-Based Pricing at $99. Integrated payments are included, with no published rate. There is no free trial.

Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option is documented.
Platforms: Web business portal, white-label iOS and Android pet-parent app, StaffApp+ for staff phones and an iPad-only Front Desk Kiosk; US focus.
Best For: Boarding, daycare and multi-location operators who want a branded app from day one.
Our take: Choose RunLoyal when the app your clients see matters as much as the back office.
Editor score: 4.3/5. Strong pricing disclosure and a branded app in every plan; no API and a volume-based price ladder keep it behind ProPet.
3. Gingr
Gingr runs boarding, daycare, grooming and training from one system, and it has been owned by Togetherwork since 2017, alongside PetExec and Revelation Pets.
Pricing: Plans are priced per facility. Spa, for groomers and trainers, is $109 a month or $100 on annual billing. Play, for daycare, is $169 or $142. Stay, for boarding, is $179 or $154 with integrated payments active, and $209 without them. Enterprise is quoted. Every plan includes the full platform. Add-ons such as employee scheduling and 2-way SMS are unpriced, the setup fee is not published, and there is no free trial, only a demo request.

Published partners include Gingr Payments, CardConnect, Broadly, iDogCam, abcKam and VetVerifi; we found no Stripe, QuickBooks or Zapier integration on its partners page.
Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option is documented.
Platforms: Staff web app, plus a free Pet Parent app for iPhone and Android unlocked with a facility invite code. Payments cover the US, Canada and UK; SMS covers the US and Canada.
Best For: Boarding and daycare operators who want one system with vaccine checks built in.
Our take: Choose Gingr when boarding and daycare are the core business and you will not need much outside integration.
Editor score: 4.2/5. Broad single-system coverage and vaccine verification; the read-only API and a demo-only sales process keep it from the top.
4. Time To Pet
Time To Pet, founded in Austin in 2014, is the one platform here built first for in-home sitters and dog walkers, with a facility plan for daycare and boarding added on top.
Pricing: Pet sitting and walking starts with Lite at $25 a month or $250 a year. Solo is $50 a month or $500 a year and adds visit videos, text messaging, Zapier and QuickBooks Online. Team is $40 plus $16 per active staff member, so two staff cost $72 a month. Facility, for daycare and boarding, is $79 a month, and combining it with a sitting plan is the Full service option, which has no listed price. All plans have a 14-day free trial with no card. Time To Pet Payments, powered by Stripe, charges 3% plus $0.30 on US cards and 1.3% plus $0.30 on ACH.

Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option is documented.
Platforms: Web, plus iOS and Android staff and client apps and a client portal. Payments are available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Austria and New Zealand.
Best For: Pet sitters, dog walkers and small teams, plus daycares that want one vendor for both.
Our take: Choose Time To Pet when your staff work in clients' homes and you need GPS and visit proof.
Editor score: 4.1/5. The best sitting and walking fit and a free trial; mandatory payments and no documented API cap the score.
5. DaySmart Pet
DaySmart Pet, formerly 123Pet, is the most grooming-specific product here, and the only one on the list that still sells a Windows desktop version alongside the cloud app.
Pricing: Monthly pricing is listed with and without DaySmart Payments. Basic is $29 with payments or $39 without, for one user. Deluxe is $69 or $89 for three users, Deluxe Growth $149 or $169, and Premium $199 or $219 for six users and QuickBooks Online. Premium Growth is quoted. Website Builder is $15 a month and Reputation Management $49. The 14-day free trial needs no credit card and includes everything in Deluxe. The pricing page does not list a price for the boarding and daycare calendars.
Top Features
- Appointment book with 24/7 online booking
- Text and email reminders with two-way texting
- Integrated payments with deposits
- Client and pet profiles with vaccine records and waivers
- Over 50 customizable reports
- Payroll, commissions and loyalty tools
Pros
- Lowest entry price here at $29 a month
- 14-day free trial with no card
- Windows desktop version on a local database
Cons
- Boarding and daycare run as add-on calendars
- No public API
AI/MCP Integration: Community only. A third-party vendor, Cotlet, markets a hosted server that drives a logged-in DaySmart session; DaySmart publishes no MCP server of its own.
API Integration: No public API found. Documented integrations are QuickBooks Online (Premium and up, or a Deluxe add-on), integrated payments and Facebook booking.
Cloud Based: Yes, with a web login. An on-premise Windows version also exists, using a local SQL Server database; it does not run on Mac.
Platforms: Web app and a mobile app on every plan, with online booking for pet parents. US-oriented.
Best For: Salon and mobile groomers who want payroll, commissions and loyalty in one tool at a low price.
Our take: Choose DaySmart Pet when grooming is the business and a cheap entry price matters.
Editor score: 4.0/5. Excellent grooming depth and the lowest entry price; add-on gating and no API pull it down.
6. MoeGo
MoeGo is a platform aimed squarely at mobile groomers, with boarding, daycare and franchise tools layered in around its route-optimizing scheduler.
Pricing: The pricing page, in USD per month, rendered only its mobile grooming tab. Basic is $49 for solo groomers and has self-serve sign-up. Growth is $99 and Ultimate $159, and both are demo-gated. Enterprise is quoted and adds franchise management and the MoeGo API platform. The salon tab did not render, so we cannot confirm salon prices. Per MoeGo's help wiki, which may predate current rates, MoeGo Pay charges 2.9% plus $0.50 card-present and 3.4% plus $0.30 card-not-present. No free trial is shown.

API Integration: No public developer API or docs. The "MoeGo API platform" is listed only as an Enterprise feature. QuickBooks Online sync is documented on MoeGo's help wiki, and we found no official Zapier app.
Cloud Based: Yes. No on-premise option is documented.
Platforms: Web and desktop, plus iOS and Android business apps and a pet-parent booking portal; US-oriented.
Best For: Mobile groomers and multi-van fleets.
Our take: Choose MoeGo when routes and drive time are your biggest cost, and plan to talk to sales above the entry tier.
Editor score: 3.9/5. The best route tools, held back by demo-gated tiers, unpublished salon prices and an Enterprise-only API.
7. Paw Partner

How to Choose Pet Care Software
- Start with the services you sell. Grooming, boarding, daycare, training and sitting are not equally covered, and sitting is thin everywhere except Time To Pet.
- Price the whole bill. Add card processing, texting, setup and any per-module or per-location charges to the subscription before comparing vendors.
- Check the appointment or user model. RunLoyal scales with appointments, Time To Pet with active staff, ProPet with modules, and Gingr with facility plan.
- Ask about vaccine and waiver control. Look for a verification step before drop-off, not just a field on the profile.
- Decide whether you need an API. Only ProPet documents one publicly; for everyone else, integrations stop at QuickBooks, Zapier and payments.
- Test the client side. Book a stay as a customer and see whether the app or booking page matches your brand and your rules.
- Confirm the exit. Ask what a data export costs and whether annual plans are refundable. Paw Partner's annual plans are prepaid and non-refundable.
What Pet Care Software Actually Costs
Three examples, all computed from published prices before card processing and text fees.
A solo mobile groomer on monthly billing pays $348 a year on DaySmart Pet Basic with payments ($29 a month), $539.88 on Paw Partner Grooming Only ($44.99), or $588 on MoeGo Basic ($49). DaySmart Basic includes 500 texts a month, Paw Partner sells texting as a $10.99 add-on, and MoeGo's pricing page lists no text allotment, so check that line.
A boarding and daycare facility that closes about 300 appointments a month pays $1,019.88 a year on ProPet (the $49.99 base plus $20 for Boarding and $15 for Daycare, so $84.99 a month), plus the $75-per-module setup fee on a monthly plan. Paw Partner's multi-service bundle is $1,199.88 a year with no setup fee. RunLoyal's Jog plan, which covers up to 500 appointments, is $1,428 plus the $499 setup fee, or $1,927 in year one. Gingr Stay with integrated payments is $2,148 a year on monthly billing and $1,848 on annual billing.
A three-person pet sitting team on Time To Pet Team pays $40 plus $16 for each of three active staff, or $88 a month and $1,056 a year.
Final Thoughts
ProPet earns the top spot on what a buyer can verify: a printed price per module, no per-user fees, and the only public API in the group. RunLoyal is the better choice if your clients expect an app with your brand on it and you operate more than one location. Gingr is the safe single system for boarding and daycare, as long as you can live with a read-only API.
The rest are narrower. Time To Pet is the answer for sitters and walkers, DaySmart Pet for groomers watching the budget, MoeGo for van fleets, and Paw Partner for kennel owners who want free hands-on setup. If you also run appointments across other service businesses, read our appointment reminder software and field service management software guides.
